APPLY button deactivated after regular search

After running a regular search on the PC the APPLY button at the bottom is deactivated. I can only close the search window and delete the findings manually after writing them down.
Any idea how to reactivate it without uninstalling and reinstalling avast again?
Last time this occured, I had to do that and it worked for a while now.

And are there any infected files in the list of results?

Yes, there were a few, mostly in the browser cache. I now activated (before a new search) the action to be taken when anything was found and it was done successfully, so I do not have to do it manually anymore. Except for the fact that for lower level threats (like false positives with PUP applications) the button at the bottom is still not active (no action to be taken was set by me, because of potentially more false positives) although it has an orange frame showing around it as if it was.
