Do you mean the voice of Avast?  In 4.8, it used to be a man's voice.  In 5.0, it is a woman's voice.

Is the sound on your machine OK in other areas (excluding Avast)?

First, tell us more about your PCs specs. CPU, amount of RAM, storage...
Second, give more details regarding your problem... what sound is distorted ?

While I'm watching a movie, if the wheel turns red audio scratch.
If I disable Avast (10 minutes) the problem does not occur
Thanks

Win XP Pro Ver. 2002 Service Pack 3
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual
Core Processor 5000+
2.61 GHz - 2GB RAM

I read that Avast 5 is lighter than 4.8
You can go back to version 4.8?  ???
Thanks

Are you running the video from the same drive as the rest of the system ? What do you use to view the video ? Does it help if you exclude the player ?

To exclude the player do this:

1) open Avast interface
2) go to Real-time Shields
3) click on File System Shield and then click on the "Expert settings button"
4)go to exclusions and enter the full path to video player executable or use the "browse" button to get to it
5) after this click OK and check if it still messes your playback

Do you also happen to use bittorrent at the same time ? Do the files you download go to the same drive where the video files are ?

"Are you running the video from the same drive as the rest of the system ? "
Yes

"What do you use to view the video ? "
Video LAN player

"Does it help if you exclude the player ?"
Now I exclude the player

"Do you also happen to use bittorrent at the same time? "
Yes, Emule e bittorrent  ::)

"Do the files you download go to the same drive where the video files are ?"
No, in another drive.

Closing Emule and Torrent seems to be better.
Today I test

Thanks for your help  :)
