I have just got a feedback from one of my user, I have updated her avast definition which was dated 7:48PM SG Time, and still no go.

Version 5.x

Can the Avast Team give a more specific instruction on how to solve this, to the affected computer.

Thank you very much

Hello,
send the file to virus@avast.com and put "False positive" to subject, please.

Not sure if this helps some other users or not, but when I had the unidrv.dll file marked as false positive, I had to restore the file from the avast vault, and then stop and restart the print spooler service...

also, before this patch I would add the file to the excluded list.

Melos,

Please read the posts in this forum, we have all done that and it a AVAST problem.

I have sorted out mine as follows.

Close all programs except your web browser and avast
Update the virus definitions - I did this a few times (version 110414-1)
goto virus chest and restore UNIDRV.DLL if it asks to overwrite say yes.
Shut down - Quickly  ;D
and restart

Our office all started working after that.

Fixed it for me for unidrv.dll 0.3.6001.22127. File scans clean and restores fine.

Thanks,
d

PS, I believe Norton has/had a feature where it rescans the virus chest automatically after virus updates. Just something to think about adding, I'm assuming there would be little performance cost.

This gets already discussed in the background. ;)

Avast has similar feature for ages... :-) but in corporate version, so called ADNM. There is special task for such restore.
But I would rather do it not automatically, I would prefer to choose which files from chest I wish to restore - sometimes I don't want restore not all old FP files, but only some of them :-)

Hi guys,

I still can't get the computer to print, is anyone kind enough to give some pointers to solve this? Would be most appreciated.

What I did :

1. updated (on one machine) from ver 5.x to 6.x
2. update the definition file to the latest
3. restore the UNIDRV.DLL to the original location
4. stop / start spooler
5. restart computer

still get error printing.

thanks in advance for whatever helps that come in.

I just wanted to thank Avast for resolving this problem, the reponse time in fixing this was just awesome!  Well done guys.

Lastly, lonetree did you try excluding the file from Avast?  Real time shields, expert settings, exclusions?
