Running Avast Free Edition, latest version, latest virus definitions, on Win2000.
I've been using Avast since V.4 but have never before experienced the following behavior, which has occurred during two full scans over the last week or two:
At several points during the scan, the firewall (Kerio Personal Firewall) stops the scan and displays a box with the following message:
<avast! service is trying to execute 'sf'. Permit the event if it is expected and intended. Deny this event if it is undesirable (can be caused by a virus, trojan horse or an application breaching this computer's security).>
I let the scan proceed, but elected not to "make a rule", just in case this event was due to an infection. So as it stands now, the message will continue to appear whenever I do a scan.
Is there a problem here, or can I just go ahead and permit the event on a recurring basis?
