I am not very knowledgeable about viruses, but I was hit with the Security Tool virus yesterday. I know there have been posts about this, but I didn't see an answer that fits. Here is the situation.
I got the security tool information popping up on my screen. I searched out some solutions, but I couldn't get any of them to work. I read about loading fixexe.reg onto a USB and then trying to open it on the infected computer. I'm not sure this is a safe option; however the security tool won't let me open anything anyways. A friend told me that she had this virus and did a system restore for the day before the virus and it got rid of it. I tried that and the security tool pop-ups have stopped. Is there anything else I have to do to completely wipe this out of my computer? The pop-ups don't appear, but is the virus domant or still running without the pop-ups?
