Avast 5 gets stuck for dial-up users..
« on: August 06, 2010, 12:33:00 PM »
I downloaded avast 5 recently and i found its UI really g8 (;D) but it fails to open when dial-up connection is OFF and LAN in ON. So opening from tray or shortcut stucks up in its main screen then we need to terminate it manually. I guess it tries to establish communication with internet frequently in-spite of being offline.

Not for this dial-up user it doesn't, though I don't use a LAN.

Have (or did) you another Anti-Virus installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

If you have the avast free version, when you open the avastUI (Summary) it will try to connect to update the ad portion at the bottom. I don't initially open the avastUI if I haven't connected.
