What happens if you click on the "C" drive icon?
What opens if you right-click either of those icons and select "properties"?

Tried a reboot?

Please do not make duplicate open threads/topics. You also have this one opened: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=62626.0, and this will only confuse people trying to help you.  Thank you.

I can't reply accurately. I don't know.
It sounds like a registry problem to me.

Run any registry cleaners, or deleted/changed any entries?

OK, go to "Start>control panel>folder options". Select "file type" and then highlight "drive" (or it may be "local drive"). Click on "advanced" then "change icon" and select the icon for it to use from a list that should appear.

Post back.

Well done.
Handy site, that Kellys corner. I was going to suggest a system restore to a time when it worked correctly, but your way is good. ;D
