Registration Not Working

I'm trying to register my avast! free edition on my Windows Vista 32-bit computer, but avast! won't let me click "Register Now" within the program. Whenever I click the register button, a window pops up that says "retrieving information, please wait" and then just disappears. It doesn't show the form or anything. Just disappears. The register offline button opens the form in the internet, but I have yet to get that e-mail with the key.

When is the Current registration expiry date ?
If more that 14 days and you currently haven't had a re-registration notice I don't believe it will let you re-register early.

See image, note mine still has some way to go, but see it indicates registered and there is no register now button. I thought yours would be the same until you receive the notification, at which point the Registration window would change.

I just installed avast!, so I have not yet registered it at all. This is my first time registering it. Where yours says registered in green, mine says un-registered in red. My 30 day expiration ends on 9/9/2010.

OK I thought it was a re-registration.

Have (or did) you another Anti-Virus installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?
This could possibly conflict with the registration process.

I had this problem also on a new machine that I rebuilt.  A reboot took care of it.

It could very well be a problem with an old A/V, but sometimes it's just a simple thing.
