[Resolved] Question about Adobe Flash Player

I just ran into that yesterday when updating one of my systems with Secunia. I removed the old version manually since I didn't intend to reboot the system.

Has anybody heard of Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller Removal Tool you can download the latest version at the same time when latest Adobe Flash Player has been release, that way you still get the latest Removal Tool to make sure it remove all the old version of the system before you update the latest Adobe Flash Player version.

I still say you don't need it unless Adobe says you do. Even if an old file is left behind , it can't do anything since the registry will point to the new version to be used. I do remember way back when they went from v8 to 9 and the v8.ocx was still present along with the v9 one. It didn't matter because the v9 was the one that was always used. When you update within a version series, the old file is overwritten since it has the same file name. The only time I have seen Adobe say you had to use the uninstaller was if you had installed the beta version of the 10.1 player. There is no security risk posed by old inactive files.

I have never said I had the right answer. Just in some cases, the most practical one (in my opinion). If somebody wants to do things another way, that's fine, but there are always more than one way to arrive at the same point and to just give one and criticize any others is not the way to go. People can't make choices if they are not presented with all of the alternatives.
