"White list"?
« on: August 14, 2010, 08:44:00 PM »
Is there a way to allow certain programs to run without Avast! checking them?  i.e. volume control (Avast! icon spins), smart defrag (not sure, but they recommend using a "white list" or similar to allow it to run without interference), etc.  Or is this not recommended?

Thanks in advance.

Mike i don't think avast is checking those programs for more the malware. sounds like you have a third party firewall thats checks them.

do you have other programs installed on your computer like firewalls like pc tools comodo?

a tips don't use smart defrag becouse it from an company that could not be trusted any more im afraid. smart defrag is from iobit.

could recommend auslogics defrager instead.

You can go to Avast GUI > Settings > Exclusions > add the program there.  But be careful what you add, as the previous poster mentioned.  Usually only other security software should be added here so as to not cause any conflicts - like your third party firewall for example, but not a defrag software.
