medstu,

Avast only scans email which uses POP3 and SMTP protocols.
Yahoo mail is webmail and does not use the standard protocols. Avast will not scan them.

Sorry.  :-[

If you use YahooPOPs to download your Yahoo mail to a mail client such as Outlook or Mozilla Mail you can set up avast to scan incoming & outgoing messages.

All attachments in Yahoo mail are already scanned by Norton before you download them so you're already pretty safe.

Are you sure? Isn't it a matter of each ISP, I mean, all yahoo mail are clean regard of the ISP used? Who scans the email?  ::)

If you receive an attachment in your mail you have a link that says "Scan and Download Attachment". The only way to download the attachment is to click that link which scan it.

Here's a link that talks about Yahoo Mail & Virus Protection.

Thanks Amerk, I thought (wrongly) that you were talking about pop3 email not webmail... For webmail, ok, you're right. Thanks for your time and explanation  ;)
