Every time I do a full scan, I get this error:

Quote
Error: The volume does not contain a recognized file system (1005)

It's not a show-stopper, but I'd like to prevent this message if I could.  How can I exclude whatever "volume" it's referring to?  The "File name" it shows is "\\?\Volume{d095bb40-3d61-11df-b8d0-806d6172696f}\".

It refers to a partition on your disk that doesn't have a letter assigned.
Maybe the partition is unformatted... hard to say. You may be able to locate it in Disk Manager (Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer Management / Disk Management)... however, I would probably suggest not to take any hard actions (such as formatting the partition) just because of this error.
I'll try to reproduce the behavior and somehow silence this particular error.

It would probably be possible to put the volume into the list of exclusions - but right now I'm not sure how the corresponding mask should look like (whether including the \\?\ prefix or without, whether with the trailing backslash or without, whether with an appended asterisk or without... would have to try first).

Thank you for the reply.  I have a TrueCrypt encrypted volume on my hard disk, so that must be what it is.

See it's a full volume (and not a file-based container), right?
Anyway, for easier simulation - could you post a screenshot of what the Disk Manager shows?

Yes, it is a partition-based volume, not file-based.

I am experimenting with exclusions and just received this in the log:

Quote
\\?\Volume{d095bb40-3d61-11df-b8d0-806d6172696f}\ [E] The volume does not contain a recognized file system (1005)

I'm not sure what the [E] means.  Does it mean it was excluded?  (The scan did not complete, so I am unsure if the error would appear as it did before.)  Hello, I am a moron.  :-X

[E] just means "Error occurred when scanning the file".

In one of the next virus database updates, the error should start to be ignored (i.e. not shown in the results).
You can also set the exclusion in the form \\?\Volume{d095bb40-3d61-11df-b8d0-806d6172696f}\*
