« on: August 02, 2004, 04:20:35 PM »
a window pops up while I have outlook express open

the window says
"
AVAST: Connection Timeout
Internet connection timeout elapsed,  Continue waiting?
    yes                   no     "

What's going on and is there any thing I can do to eliminate this window...

Donut, you may change both avast and your email account timeout. Probably you're sending messages with big attached files  ;)

What type of internet connection are you using? What technical said could possibly be the reason. Another reason is, if you are using a dial-up connection, and are staying in the Outlook Express program for an extended period of time the ISP server you use could be disconnecting you. Its generally referred to as "Idle timeout" with alot of ISP providers. What you should do if your staying in the Outlook Express program for a long time is occasionally
click on the"refresh/reload" icon of your browser. This will cause your pc modem to "talk/handshake" with the ISP modem/s and that should stop any "idle timeout" on the ISP end. Hope this helps. Have a nice day. :D

It seems that some program on your computer makes a connection with the mail scanner but sends no data on it. You can
1) find that program and reconfigure it
2) change the ports used by avast or
3) disable timeout checking in avast
