Best "Action" Settings for Virus Scan & Shields?
« on: September 01, 2010, 06:25:18 PM »
I'm a new user to Avast.

The various "Action" settings (Move to Chest; Repair; Delete; etc.) have me a little bit confused.  I would prefer to choose "Delete" for every kind of virus, PUP, or suspicious program, but I'm not sure if that choice could ultimately do harm to my computer's running (i.e., deleting things that shouldn't be or making a program no longer work properly).

Avast seems to prefer that I move everything to the Virus Chest (Quarantine?).  Offering 3 different possibilities for what I could do with a virus, etc., actually only confused me more.

I tried looking at the Help section.  But, frankly,I didn't find it very helpful in explaining clearly and fully what Avast actuallydoes when it finds something . . . or, what it recommends I should do.

Is there a recommended set of actions for dealing with viruses and the like?

Thanks.

If you delete you have no options left if something goes wrong...

Clean, Quarantine, or Delete?

not yet, you are not the first to ask so we have to wait and see if it will be there when avast 5.1 is released later (late) this year
