An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format
« on: September 08, 2010, 12:43:32 AM »
I experienced this message when I attempted to upgrade to .677 on avast! Pro and a Vista computer.

I ended up uninstalling Pro, reinstalling Pro and the upgrade went well.

Just thought I would pass this on.

edit should have mentioned I tried 3 times before I gave up and uninstalled.

I had some trouble updating to Pro 5.0.677 from the previous beta, too.   Can't remember any specific errors but when I clicked update, it just wouldn't do anything.   The update definitions also said it needed updating and did the same thing.  It had been updating fine.  I went to the add/remove and when I clicked on Avast, I was only presented with uninstall.

Uninstall/reinstall 5.0.677 seemed to have fixed the problem.

@ jadinolf,

What was the [error] message you received out of curiosity?

Check the subject of my post.

Every attempt to update the program gave the same message so- I uninstalled it, reinstalled it and all is now well.
