Hello wakko9260,

What product of Avast are you trying to register?  Free, Pro, AIS?

Free: http://www.avast.com/registration-free-antivirus.php

Pro: How to register avast 5 pro on page 7 - 8
http://ll001.avast.com/files/documentation/quick-start-guide-pro-en-ww.pdf
http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=475

AIS: Once you have purchased Avast Internet Security 5.0, you will receive an email with your license file attached to the email address specified during the purchase process.  You need to have Avast Internet Security 5.0 already installed on your machine to insert the license file into the program according these instructions: http://support.avast.com/index.php?languageid=1&group=eng&_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=476

Converting Avast 4 Pro License Key to 5 Pro License File:
http://www.avast.com/resend-license.php.  Make sure you use the same email as you used to register for the 4.0 license.

Please let us know if you need additional information as your reply gave me no indication as to what product of Avast you had.  If you are having other difficulties, please be descriptive in your next post, including what other security software you have and had on your machine in the past so that we can help you better.  Thank you.  :)
