« on: August 02, 2004, 07:37:30 PM »
I have been getting an error message the last few days when Avast tries to update. I just checked and I have the july 29 version of the virus database. Any ideas why it doesnt update?

What is the exact error message?Do you have a firewall and has any settings changed there to block the updater?.Also has your update settings changed i.e whether its updating through a proxy or not?

Can you browse or send/receive email normally?
Everything is fine except avast?

Do you use a firewall? which one?
Did you allow "avast*.setup" file to connect the Internet? This is necessary to update it...
When you click the red panel 'nothing appears'... but really nothing? Not a message box saying the server is down?
There will be an IP number... Can you open a DOS windown and write:
ping XX.XXX.XXX.XXX
Can you connect?
