Threads not being marked as read
« on: January 05, 2011, 07:40:00 AM »
In avast! Free/Pro/Suite forum, threads I read still show new posts when I return to the forum and refresh the page, or leave the forum and go to another forum here and then come back, I still see the threads I read earlier as saying there are new posts but there are not any new posts when I check the threads. In this forum the board software seems to be working correctly as I have read several threads, and when I came back to the main list of threads and refreshed the page, those threads showed no new posts. Why would only the Free/Pro/Suite forum have a problem like this?

Also, why does it ALWAYS say "total time logged in: 1 days, 21 hours and 41 minutes?  It has said that for months now. It doesn't matter if I close the tab for this forum or leave it open. It always reports the same total time logged in. If I shut down this virtual machine and don't use it for a week, but sometime during that week I come here on my host computer, it still says the same logged in time.

I use this feature every day and never saw such error.
Are you sure isn't this just a browser cache problem? i.e., are you really reloading the page (Ctrl+F5)?

I don't know if using a virtual machine has any bearing on this ???

No problems with updating the page here either -- I have my Firefox set to check each visit.

Note that on any browser (that I've seen, anyway), if you use its Back button to return to a previous page, rather than using the appropriate button or link on the web-page, you'll always go to the cached copy which of course hasn't changed, regardless of your browser settings.
