Avast 5.0 starts after internet is accessed by other programs
« on: October 02, 2010, 08:02:11 PM »
Using Win XP and Avast symbol indicates no protection for about 3 seconds after XP starts. I notice Google desktop aps are already on the Internet and downloading.

Shouldn't Avast be loading before other programs. Never saw the symbol indicating Avast still not protecting with previous versions.

Google can't start donwloading before the network drivers and the filters (avast Web Shield for instance) are loaded and running. There is no connection at that time.
You can use Startup Delayer to delay the Google loading.
3 seconds is a very little short. Your lucky!

By 3 seconds I mean that it is how long it takes at the best for the Avast symbol to indicate it is active after I see news feeds and stock quotes being shown. It sometimes is longer which indicates to me that the web shield may not working quick enough.

What is startup delayer? Is their a way to ensure Avast is the first program to be loaded.

Try Startup Delayer.
This freeware controls the Windows startup that does not follow a strict order.
