Can't install Avast Free antivirus on Windows 2000 SP4

Hi, I am having problems installing Avast. I've installed the hotfix and when I go back to install Avast it says I still need to install the hotfix! I don't know much about computers and this is driving me around the bend!
Help pleeeeeease

The page discusses the hotfix kb/816542. 

However, the "hotfix available" link is not functional / highlighted, and the page says you have to submit a request to microsoft who may then send you the hotfix - where can the hotfix just be downloaded or do I have to go through more microrigmarole ?

You need to request it to Microsoft.

I've finally found the hotfix.  Micros*** have made it part of the hotfix rollup #1 for win2k with sp4

The rollup can be downloaded at
