Avast 5 services stopped
« on: September 22, 2010, 02:26:23 PM »
Hmm

Avast 5 stopped working on Win XP Pro SP2, now I have updated it to Win XP SP3

I have attached the logs which have errors

I uninstalled Avast 5, and installed Avast 5 again

I have Comodo Firewall 5, Immunet, Zemana

I tried the repair option, avast 5 uninstall utility but no use

Can someone please check the Setup.log and tell me if there are errors?

Did you register your avast?
Code: [Select]
16:09:33 min/gen  szKey: 99999999-9999-9999-9999-999999999999
Also, I see error 5. Do you have admin rights?

I suggest an installation from scratch:

1. Download the latest version of avast! Uninstall Utility and save it.
2. Download the latest avast! version and save it.
3. Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can't run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
4. Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can't run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you've run it.
5. Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.
6. Register your free copy or add the license key for Pro.
7. Check and post the results.
The best things in life are free.

I did all those steps but no use

I will post the screenshots soon but maybe not today, most probably next week as I am busy, for the sake of security, I am forced to choose Avira now.

I just checked my Task Manager as I found out that AvastSvc.exe is not running  :(

Only the GUI service is running

I tried to run it via the Service in the Administrative tools

It gave me an error

Error 1068: The dependancy service or group failed to start
