does not scan email anymore?

my avast home edition has quit scanning in and out mail, i used to see the mail icon and had, the mail in and out stamped clean by avast i see niether now? apparently avast has stopped scanning my mail, although everything is set to do so and set to stamp with clean message, but not doing so?

Which email program are you using?

Have you tried runing the Mail Protection Wizard again?

Have you checked the avast Internet Mail provider (assuming you are using that one) it shows the last email scanned, so if after downloading some emails there is nothing there or no change, no it's not checking your email (run the Mail Prootection Wizard again).

Have you checked the headers of any recently received email?
You should see something like this:
X-Antivirus: avast! (VPS 0432-2, 04/08/2004), Inbound message
X-Antivirus-Status: Clean

This doesn't rely on your having enabled adding a message to your email.

Thanks for the input folks, I had to re- install avast, the problem was caused after i submitted a hijackthis list to be analyzed, and one of the reviewers, did not recognize the avast scanner port/ ip address , and had me remove it via hijackthis. after using the avast removal tool , and a clean un-install /re- install all is working fine now.
