It is not totally a surprise when you consider it has two scanners, avast (99.3%) and BitDefender (99.3%), so the combined detection only raises that from a joint 99.3% detection to a combined detection rate of 99.9% only a 0.6% increase.

The Scanning Speed Test, puts many AV claims to the sword, with avast taking top place and MSE 2nd last.

The main problem why MSE is so darn slow is that they are scanning archives on-access. Otherwise it would be fairly quick.
