www.av-comparatives.org (Are they correct?)
« on: August 06, 2004, 05:27:37 AM »
Hello everybody !

I was searching here to know what´s the best AV (payment and free) and founded this link above from av-comparatives.org.
I really doubt about it because they shows a big comparison with almost AV softwares "saying" AVAST! isn´t good (being in 12 place of all).

So, the question is: Are they correct?
Or i´m supposed to change my AV?   ???

Best regards!

reckor,

I was unable to locate the site you mention using the link info as stated.

Such a report is speculative at best.  It depends on how the AV was tested.
You ask "which is better free and pay" to which I can only say that I have used 6 of the top AV's over the years, and feel very comfortable with Avast.  I started with the Home version and also use the PRO.

Avast updates are frequent and the autoupdate function is a pleasure.
It does use a bit more of the computer resources because of the manner in which the scan engine is used, but that is negligible considering the protection it offers.

The only other comparative freeware is AVG which also offers free updates.

AntiVir is another simple to install antivirus and still ifree.

Selecting an antivirus is a matter of choice and personal preference.
The reason I use Avast is that it is still being expanded and perfected.
From time to time a bug will show up which we normally take care of via the forum, or the Avast Team will step in and run a new build update.

In all the time I have been using Avast, I have heard more complaints about other AVs then Avast.

Hope this helps.

Reckor, it is a fully discussed issue... If you search the board for the word 'bulletin' you will find a lot...
You can trust in avast  8) Listen to Techie  ;)

Yes. The site is http://www.av-comparatives.org.
I use now NAV 2004 and i never had a problem with him.
The only reason i want to change is because i hate the box´s dialog when i receive virus by email. This really upset me.
thanks for your help!

O problema é que você trabalha nele, né? Você não iria divulgar outra marca. ;)

*** I wrote in portuguese but if you want to know what is this i can translate that. I did it because i´m very tired to think in English... :)

Não, eu não trabalho para o avast! Não sou representante nem nada.
Apenas um usuário como você. Já testei vários antivirus e não pretendo sair daqui  8)
De qualquer forma, é uma alegria encontrar um pentacampeão por aqui  ;D

Translating: No, I do not work for avast! I'm not a releser or anything else.
I'm just an user like you. I have already tested a lot of other antivirus applications and do not want to go out of here...

I appreciate the fact that you guys are tired, but try to keep English as the primary language in here unless you go IM.

My Portugese is as rusty as the old nails in my paint can.  ;D

Thanks
