and just to illustrate the first example, I'll repost that here (see screen shot too)

Hi forum users,

Another implication of Google's geo-location will concern content access: Of course, many countries (like the US) elected to extend their periods of copyright protection mandated in the Berne Convention. This means that while some nations adhere to the Convention’s minimum standards, there are wild variations in other places. For example, the song “Happy Birthday to You” is ostensibly copyrighted until 2030 in the United States (although that is a point of contention for some), but only until 2016 in the European Union.

This means that while the books Google’s scanning could be public domain in the country they are scanned in, they might not be public domain in the nation that the website is viewed in. By using location-based blocks, which won’t allow access to content in places where it is trademarked, Google can neatly sidestep any copyright infringement lawsuits. They also plan to provide links to purchase the content for viewers who are blocked.

While Google may be on the side of good against insane copyright extensions (95 years for music!), they surely don’t want to continue waging legal battles around the world. This makes it easy for Google to keep pace with the world’s rapidly shifting copyright laws. What the situation will be for the ACTA countries is to be seen. I think a lot of browser users do not know that the clamps are coming down unless you will find the right gates to search, re: http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/h/4807

content stolen from here:

(edit: if needed...the link given in reference in the quoted post has little or nothing to do with the content of what was copied and pasted from another web site >>> link I gave)

ps: on a side note, this was reported, not only to Avast admins, but also to the author of the article above. The guy (Polonus) doesn't quote, doesn't link, but just posts again and again stolen stuff, claiming the authorship of it. Sounds like he's been doing that for years here. How come he hasn't been stopped?

Polonus I'm warning you: if Avast doesn't take action, I will keep hunting down your posts, I will find the original authors of the articles that you steal, and I will report you to them as many times as needed >>> is that clear? what you're doing here is illegal, okay, not to mention that it's a real shame.

Logos,  :)

Have you tried private messaging Polonus in private about this so as to avoid it getting messy on the forums?

The information Polonus posts may not be his but i have found some of it very helpful. I do agree plagiarism is not the way to go. So perhaps a non confrontational message would achieve the desired purpose. (At least this way we can still receive these updates etc.

there's nothing to expect through pm's from someone who's stealing the work from others shamelessly... when someone had done that during years, that means that he's personally fine with it ::)

no way, not worth it >>> see screen shot. Besides and again, the guy has been doing that for years, he's not gonna stop after a pm conversation. To do such things you must have a very special way of thinking to believe that it's legit, and even go claim on other web sites (like Informaction) that you're the author, brag about it, be proud of it. I'm not discussing anything with that.
And again, the only guy who's helping on the forums when it comes to serious system infections is Essexboy, while many others help with less serious issues or purely Avast software related issue. Polonus is not doing any of these things, so give me a break with that myth you want to believe in boys, thanks ;)

ps: as promised, a screenshot (removed)

@ drhayden1: I have - very quickly tbh - seen some of your very brilliant contributions on this forum  ;D

Logos, once a while you start threating different people.

If you have problem, solve it in private, I respect you and Polonus and I don't care where he find his article to post here. what's your problem?

Did he stolen anything from you? If not, so just report him to the source! it will be something between him and the source of his article... You should not do such thing against a well respected member!

By hitting people (as you did to me, Polonus and some other members) you will earn nothing.

why do I have the feeling that this forum is in the hands of a couple of mafiosi-like members (users), giving the tone, protecting each other, not particularly competent...(one of them insulting new users on a regular basis and constantly posting off topic stuff)... but still present for years here...I mean if you guys are fine with that, web content robbery, xenophobia and if Avast gives implicitly the okay...go ahead, doesn't matter if it stinks, just don't breathe with your nose ;)

oh... a well respected member who's been ripping off hundreds of web sites for years to repost the content here you mean, without quoting, without linking, and claiming to be the author...sure that must be a highly respectable person ;D
