Another implication of Google's geo-location will concern content access: Of course, many countries (like the US) elected to extend their periods of copyright protection mandated in the Berne Convention. This means that while some nations adhere to the Convention’s minimum standards, there are wild variations in other places. For example, the song “Happy Birthday to You” is ostensibly copyrighted until 2030 in the United States (although that is a point of contention for some), but only until 2016 in the European Union.

This means that while the books Google’s scanning could be public domain in the country they are scanned in, they might not be public domain in the nation that the website is viewed in. By using location-based blocks, which won’t allow access to content in places where it is trademarked, Google can neatly sidestep any copyright infringement lawsuits. They also plan to provide links to purchase the content for viewers who are blocked.

While Google may be on the side of good against insane copyright extensions (95 years for music!), they surely don’t want to continue waging legal battles around the world. This makes it easy for Google to keep pace with the world’s rapidly shifting copyright laws. What the situation will be for the ACTA countries is to be seen. ps: on a side note, this was reported, not only to Avast admins, but also to the author of the article above. The guy (Polonus) doesn't quote, doesn't link, but just posts again and again stolen stuff, claiming the authorship of it. Sounds like he's been doing that for years here. How come he hasn't been stopped?

Have you tried private messaging Polonus in private about this so as to avoid it getting messy on the forums?

The information Polonus posts may not be his but i have found some of it very helpful. I do agree plagiarism is not the way to go. So perhaps a non confrontational message would achieve the desired purpose. (At least this way we can still receive these updates etc.

Hi Logos what is bothering you from polonus?Coz he is the best and want every one to be secure or he make us more informed or just because he is the inspire source to us.
I don't see any thing wrong in what he do since no licence protect that Contenent and even if he just make us more informed.

no way, not worth it >>> see screen shot. Besides and again, the guy has been doing that for years, he's not gonna stop after a pm conversation. To do such things you must have a very special way of thinking to believe that it's legit, and even go claim on other web sites (like Informaction) that you're the author, brag about it, be proud of it. I'm not discussing anything with that.
 And again, the only guy who's helping on the forums when it comes to serious system infections is Essexboy, while many others help with less serious issues or purely Avast software related issue. Polonus is not doing any of these things, so give me a break with that myth you want to believe in boys, thanks
