@Tech,

i have already installed comodo firewall + avast! free + MBAM.  The action center said "multiple antispyware programs report that they are turned on and up to date, NOTE: Running two or more antispyware programs at the same time can cause your computer to slowly ".

should i just ignore this?

Well... Comodo Defense+ is a HIPS and not an antispyware tool.
I won't worry about that. Both programs are compatible.

You could disable defender, its detections aren't that good and not really needed with avast and it's only using up your resources.

It protects the hosts file.
But indeed, you can disable it with the avast protection.

Defense+ asks me if the Hosts file needs to be altered and HostsXpert, as an updater/manager for Hosts, can make it read-only after operations.

ive never had any issues with useing comodo firewall with avast pro no conflict at all i think the only way you could get a confict is if you were useing two diffrent anti virus at once ::)

thanks mastertb!  so for you it is better to have AIS alone? what about AIS + Malwarebytes?

Sorry I just read the post.
I have MBAM as an on demand scan. But for resident protection I use AIS alone with the occasional MBAM on demand scan of course.
For me it's a great combo.
