avast 5 files in user's temp folder
« on: October 06, 2010, 06:55:32 PM »
First post, so first of all, Hi to All.

I've installed avast free v5.0.677 on a fresh installation of Win XP Prof x32 SP3, both of them Spanish versions, and have noticed that there are two files which are placed in user's temp folder.

c:\Documents and Settings\LMR\ConfiguraciĆ³n local\Temp\amline_data.xml
c:\Documents and Settings\LMR\ConfiguraciĆ³n local\Temp\amline_settings.xml

Is it intended behavior to have these two files, amline_data.xml and amline_settings.xml, placed in that location? Or should avast be placing them in the 'All Users' temp folder, or another folder, so that all users on the box share same files?

Is it safe to let CCleaner remove both files?

Thanks

The files are related to avast! GUI (in particular, the chart settings) - so yes, they are supposed to be in the user's temp folder.

Should I allow CCleaner to remove amline_data.xml and amline_settings.xml?

What info gets lost when these are removed?

I believe they are used only to transfer information between the program and the charting component - so if you remove them, they'll be created again when necessary. So I think you can remove them without any loss.
