avast 5 configuration cloning
« on: October 06, 2010, 07:18:31 PM »

Does there exist a documented or supported way of exporting avast free 5.0.677 configuration and settings so that these can be later imported to same version avast freshly installed on a different, but similar, machine?

In case there is no program option to achieve the above, could it be possible to clone avast free 5.0.677 configuration and settings to another installation copying some files? Which files are the ones that would need to be copied over? Could file copying take place while the receptor avast is running, or would it be necessary to do it booting into safe mode?

There is no official way through the avastUI, etc. but if you make some customisations, these are most likely to have been recorded in the various .ini files, so copying those periodically may save some of them.

Honestly, I have never felt the need to do this.
