Since I disabled Spyware Doctor's protection modules and shut it down, Avast update is working again.
You didn't comment on all those infections found by Avast that were all Windows temp files. In the full scan yesterday Avast found only one of those. But still, what is this? I am going to wait for the uninstall and reinstall you recommended until after today's scan. Then if I'm still getting these items I'll try that first.
I did a quick scan yesterday with SUPERAntiSpyware (Free) and there were over 500 items found. Normally my spyware scans either come out clean or with just a few items. Then when my Registry Mechanic performed it's scheduled daily scan last evening it found 519 items to fix. There just seems to be something funny going on here.
I did a quick scan yesterday with Malwarebytes and nothing was found there.
Isn't Avast supposed to protect against spyware? If so, is there some setting I need to change or something, because much as I love this program, it doesn't appear to be doing a very good job against spyware. (Mostly tracking cookies I think.)
This morning I did a full scan with SUPERAntispyware and it found 22 items. Even this is way more than I usually get on a spyware scan.
