Change from demo to licenced version
« on: August 09, 2004, 10:41:25 PM »
I downloaded AVAST server edition as demo on my Win 2000 Server and tried it out during the free period of 3 month. After that licence was unabled I purchased the3 year version of that software:
"Betreff: Lizenzschlüssel für avast! 4 Server Edition, 3 years (share-it! Bestellnr. 6714846) "
I saved the license.dat file and loaded it, like described in the email:
"8) The next shown dialog enables license file entering. Specify path to license.dat on your harddrive and click "OK". Doing this you will activate your program. If you want just to try avast! Server Edition click "Demo"
button - demo license file will be generated for you providing you with 3 month testing period. License file can be entered later from About box too."
I tried to update both the program as well as the data tool. In both ways I had the message:
" The license key for this product is invalid or is expired".
I had the same message after restarting the server.
when I checked the license upload I found informations like:
"customer n° 8303652: license valid till 09 of august 2007", which all seems to be rokay for me.
What can be wrong? Thanks for your prompt reply.

Hi, do you have any of the server "plugins" installed. E.g. MS Exchange, MS ISA, STMP or SharePoint shields?

If so, are they contained in the license file?

Thanks
Vlk

Hi vlk
you are right. There is at least MS Exchange running on the server as well. Where do I check what other pluggins are installed?

Anyhow I would say there is no information in the license key. Shall I mail you the license key? Thanks

To check which plugins are installed (and possibly uninstall them), go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> avast! Server Edition -> Change/Remove -> Change.

Placing a red X next to a feature uninstalls it.

What do you mean, no information? Like in information about Exchange or just no info at all?? :)

Sure, you can mail me the file but what exactly would you like me to do with it? If you have the Exchange etc. plugins installed but there's no license for them in the file then there's no wonder that it behaves how it behaves...

Thanks

With me it worked a little bit different to find out what plugins are installed, thanks anyhow (see attached file). :o

I did not know that with additional plugins :
MS Exchange server
SMTP server I have to purchase a different license, that's why I offered to send the license key. Can you guide me to the corrcet website to purchase the additional staff? Thanks

Exchange license contains SMTP so you'd only need to purchase Exchange. This is licensed per mailbox. I'd say it's little bit expensive (of course depends on the size of your server).

Here's the purchase link: http://www.shareit.com/product.html?cart=1&productid=196385&languageid=1

The drawback is that the shop will probably not recognize that you've already bought the Server Edition so it will issue a new license file that will contain just the Exchange Server Edition license. But if you send me those two files (the original Server Edition license that you already have and the new one for Exchange Server Edition), I'll merge them for you... :)

Thanks

I found the web thanks, the additional price for the exchange server is tough. Is there a way of a discount for a small company? We are only 3 workers.

Do I have to pay double for it or is this price only for the additional plugin? I forgot to ask in the note before.

Just for the Exchange thing :-[
(unless you're using a Small Business Server).

Hi

coming back to the offer to merge the 2 license files, I copied the older one at the end of the new one separated by a loooooooong line of "*"
The license file was renamed, see the attachement.

Thank you for doing that job.

Frank

Wait a moment, I sent it a week ago (last Monday) to your bluewin.ch address...

I thought you got it...

Hi
last week my server crashed down due to an error in the prozessor (IBM). As I forward that email-adress it was lost and you did not receive an info. Can you resend it? Thanks Frank
