[RESOLVED]Update problem
« on: October 20, 2010, 08:46:09 PM »
Hi you guys!

I have a real problem with avast.

For some reason avast is unable to update its definitions to 101020-1, I have tried setting the setting to no proxy and direct connection, but it still does not update.

The update fails again and again and the file is unable to be downloaded.

I am running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. The file avast is trying to download is vps_win32-317-316.vpx

The download beings, but at all times it gets to a certain point and then it cannot download the file anymore. Please help ASAP.

What error are you getting during the update ?

What is your firewall ?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

It just keeps on failing for some reason. Could anyone upload the file, I will fix it manually.

Other than that, I do not see an option, the file keeps on failing to be downloaded.

And there were no changes to firewall, and Avast is allowed through everything.

Could be a disk error (maybe running chkdsk /R could help).
Maybe you could disable avast self defense module and then delete that file (<avast folder>\Setup).

No, there is no problem with that, and it seems to be a problem with all my friend's computers as well. I really do not know what is wrong, but I am absolutely sure that there is no problem with the system's hardware. I mean 3 computers are having the same problem and they have different versions of windows.

I hope one of the avast team members can look into this.

But those who have successfully download the file vps_win32-317-316.vpx, could you please send it to me?

Thank you! :D
