RoboForm Online - Alternative to LastPass
« on: October 25, 2010, 12:04:14 PM »
I just came across a beta program of RoboForm Online, something similar to LastPass

https://online.roboform.com

I am not sure though, if it is better than LastPass

RoboForm lost the rush against LastPass.
With LastPass we have the same as RoboForm, for free, cross-platform and cross-browser...

I guess, that might be the reason why they started offering this service.

Edit: The addon works in both Chrome and Firefox with online synchronization similar to LastPass

Full Platform supported

EDIT:

Roboform addon is 331 kb whereas LastPass is 1.8MB in Firefox

I can't be the only one to feel this way, when some application is storing 'my' user names and passwords on-line I get the shiver running down my spine, no matter how secure they might say it is.

I'm a trusting sort NOT, so lastpass got the big elbow when I found it wasn't an off-line method. So with roboform offering more of the same no way.

Xmarks works for me to sync passwords online, between firefox and chrome, also, I've had no problem with Roboform in last 3 years, only lack of Good support of Opera (yet pre-beta) and bad support of Chrome (beta, cause micro-second of Chrome every few moments). (Online version of Roboform is useless).

+1

I too won't depend on such(online) applications. But I came across password safe : http://www.schneier.com/passsafe.html - Which is offline. And designed by Bruce Schneier - one of the cryptography experts. I have never looked at something else.

Thanks, I have had password safe downloaded before and I can't recall if I even used it or uninstalled it, so time to have another look.

I use both KeePass (passwords and serial numbers) and LastPass (logins) :)

RoboForm is both online and offline

Just install the addon, create a password, go to option, change online to offline.

However, I agree with your point that trusting a group of people with your login info gives shivers down your spine.

I shifted to LastPass because I tend not to remember my logins of many forums and sites and I cannot keep track of them and I though storing my passwords in a server is better than my PC because some hackers might know the place where offline password managers store passwords.

And, it is easy to create super strong passwords and change them without me having to remember those unique passwords.

Some months ago, I came across an ISO disk that can scan your system for admin password, and a lot of other passwords.

KeePass is opensource

I wouldn't trust opensource with my logins

It might be too much open. ;D

I wish there was a review of password managers.

RoboForm is both online and offline
For only 10 logins/passwords... ::)

I see no reason to not trust open source regarding to security. At least, for this particular application.

What?

I didn't know that  :o

EDIT:

How lame can they be

I though it was free for any amount of logins and pro for extra features.

I mean, the freeware version... Isn't it limited to 10 logins?
