Avast & SP2 & Sec. Center
« on: August 12, 2004, 02:12:29 AM »
This is a strange thing: I have 10 computers. On 9, avast is detected by SP2, no problem... On the 10th, Security Center says no antivirus software is installed... Avast is working perfectly on that system too... Is there any way I could make SP2 to SEE avast on this PC? I've tryed reinstalling avast, with uninstall & all... No effect... I don't want to reinstall SP2.  Thank you in advance.

It's fine on my computer too.  It even detects Antivir when I shutdown avasts resident shield and run Antivir's update service.  I would probably try to reinstall SP2.

I would probably try to reinstall SP2.
Unfortunately, we've done that twice. As you know that takes quite a bit of time.
I also know that the instalation file that he used is the exact same one that I use.
He got it from me.

I laugh about sp2, it makes me think of ME when it was released. It was supposed to be good. But sofar the list with problems is already long and still growing. Last week with 3 systems (on different days), I connected them to the net. Went to the MS update site and guess what....... I got a nice message saying "no important updates available"  :o All 3 systems where clean installations of XP pro with sp1a and all security updates released prior to sp2. SP2? Not for me, I'll just get/install the seperate security patches/fixes, at least that works without problems.
