SSL vs unsecure protocols
« on: November 21, 2010, 11:35:11 AM »
I think I have found a potential problem.

For the mail scanner to work, I need to turn off SSL on my network connection. However, to surf the web (especially secure sites) I need to have SSL turned on.

I have resolved this by unchecking the SSL warning box on the mail scanner, and using SSL connections for the internet.  I do not think this is a total solution though, because surely this means the mail scanner no longer works, it just turns off the warning messages that mail scanning is disabled  :-[.

Is there some way to have the best of both worlds, to maintain secure protocols AND scan incoming mail?

Best Wishes

If you want avast to scan mail from an account that have secure connetion to the server, you turn off SSL in the mail client and let avast do the SSL

avast! 5.x: Some e-mails are not scanned by the Mail Shield
