I have AIS 5X and it has blocked trojans trying to infect my computer.

Yes avast! offer 360 degree protection against viruses,trojans,spywares,rootkits,....................all of them.
You may have another anti malware program"but really you dont need that much".Good anti malwares are MBAM and SUPERAnti-spyware.

What is your opinion about Spyware terminator free edition x64 bit?
For some reason I cannot update MBAM free after installation (my system comes up with error).

What is the error you are getting?  

Did you download it from here: free http://www.malwarebytes.org/ (the blue button).  Reboot after installing.  Update the MBAM definitions prior to scanning.

What is your opinion about Spyware terminator free edition x64 bit?

I like Spyware Terminator, specially their scan result when categorize Detections as "Threat" , "Safe" and "Unknown" and you can decide about unknowns. But only for 'scanner only' (on-demand) and not real-time.

Update using 'Offline Updater', You can download from Here: http://data.mbamupdates.com/tools/mbam-rules.exe
Once you updated using this, see if next time you can update online or you have problem again.
Note: Offline updater setup updates less often than online update.
