Avast Client Push Access Denied
« on: November 14, 2010, 08:17:57 AM »
Just installed the ADNMC on a Windows XP Pro workstation. I am attempting to now create a task to install via a push the Avast client on to the same workstation as a test of the push capability before attempting to push it elsewhere on our 23 machine network.

I created the task as a client install, deploying installation package to remote machines, reboot immediately, with login account domain as "*" (this is a workgroup, NOT a Windows Server domain), and tried various combinations of the account I have on the machine which has full administrative rights. I am attempting to install it to a machine named "X" on Workgroup selected using the Browse button in Computer dialog.

I've tried X\rhack, x\rhack, Workgroup\rhack, and just rhack as the account combinations. If I try \\x\rhack I get error 2202 (The specified username is invalid) otherwise I get the below error 5 access denied. I've tried \\workgroup, and just workgroup in the domain field.

Simple file sharing is not enabled. Sharing and security model is classic, users authenticate as themselves.

The log shows the following:

11/13/10 22:55:49:   rinstInstall begin

11/13/10 22:55:53:   TerminateAll
11/13/10 22:55:53:   rinstInstall end 0

The Windows XP Pro Firewall is OFF at this point. All of the Avast exceptions installed by the Avast installer are in the firewall list of exceptions.

What is the problem? How is that an account with admin rights has "access denied"?
