Why does Avast collect personal data in an unencrypted format?
« on: November 15, 2010, 08:30:32 PM »
I would like to register for a license - but not if I have to send the kinds of information that they are requesting across the wire unencrypted. Considering that this is a security company - I am surprised that they would expose their customers/clients and users like this. Is there any way of registering Avast without submitting unencrypted personal details across the Internet?

When you purchase Avast, Digital River and the Avast store are secure. Are you purchasing a new product, upgrading a product, or are you requesting that a license be resent? How are you trying to register? What is being exposed? What leads you to believe that it is an insecure connection? I have never seen where Avast! asks for personal, financial info without a secure connection. Will you please attach a screen print?
