Blocker behaviour under XP
« on: November 24, 2004, 11:02:11 PM »
Under Win98 I used the blocker to prevent deletion of some file type. Under XP this does not work very good. It reacts on lots of system processes opening files for writing, deleting or renaming. So it's quite useless. Also the file type BIN is in the "Defult" list, and Window modifies/deltes those often.

Either I need a file type list for each action (writing, renaming, deleting) or an option to "Give OS/system access without asking" or the best - both options for each event.

Possible?

Lars, i'll investigate your 2nd suggestion - could you please write me down what software (or system tools) you have problem with (including the file extentions).

Also exclude TEMP folders (all) for Writing and Deleting. There is lots of such activity in these folders.
This blocker is a very interesting feature, but i think its designed wrong at the moment. Maybe it would be better to target only specific files like PREVX does. For example, opening HOSTS file for writting, modifying explorer.exe and other important files....
