Unable to remove Avast Free

Unable to uninstall Avast free.  After using Geek Uninstall to remove Avast Free I was
Unable to reinstall Avast Free.  I then ran Avastclear.exe in safe mode and it stated that
It completed successfully.  However, when I went to reinstall Avast Free it told me that Avast installer
Cannot continue because the last Avast operation was performed without restarting. Please reboot your computer first and then run the installer again.   I have done this many times with the same results.

Have you restarted or simply shut down and started the system?

I am experiencing the same issue, and I have removed every bit of the old version (including the folders) 'and' re-booted. Lost ...

Hi,

Did you follow the steps in this guide https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/10/? Did you make sure only to run the uninstall tool after entering safe mode? Did you "Restart" Windows?
