External Control Tool??

I uninstalled NAV 2004 using only Add/Remove and so far (touch wood) I have not had any problems with avast!  I have eliminated all folders associated with NAV.  But I have noticed there are still some entires in the register referencing Symantec.  

I don't feel comfortable with the regedit and I didn't feel comfortable using the Symantec tool because one of the steps is to reload a MS file scripten.exe.  Not sure what Symantec does that means this is necessary and not sure what happens to my system if I screw up.

This external control center is unknown to me but maybe I could safely use it to get rid of the registry entries???  Or maybe it's Ok to just leave them if they aren't causing me a problem with this great   product.

Any info would be appreciated.

Use THIS to remove nav2004. It is perfectly safe.

I don't know too much about this integration between Symantec and Microsoft but they are joined in many fields...
Look at C:\Program files\Common files too (if you did not see yet).

Yes it will. RejZor uses other avast users information and his knowleadge to do that great piece of software. You can trust it.

It's wrong. Some Symantec keys will in fact and for sure make harm to your system. You won't be protected with avast in all situations (for instance, using a cmd window, DOS, under XP). Can you see the contents of this Registry keys and post them here?

I am way out of my league here but I ran regedit and under the

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001

there is no ControlSet002

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet

there is nothing that I can detect that deals with virtual device drivers.  It does not exist as near as I can tell but as I said - I am way over my head and the control tool worked AOK.  Many thanks.  I'll keep reading and (I hope) learning.

Those are entries in your system registry. (Something best not played with unless you uses extreme caution and have some knowledge)
That's why Eddy sugested using RejZoR's excellent program.
It does all the work all you have to do is select the right option and let it do the work. Take a look:

You mean the keys are empty? Even after installing avast?
You should have, at least, this:

C:\Program files ... avast folder\aswMonVd.dll

Well the only problem is that if you uninstalled Norton,installed avast! and then used NAV2004 Cleaner the VDD key will be erased. Thats why its empty. Its not really a issue,just use Repair function for avast! in Add-Remve Programs to fix this. I think it should do the trick. Otherwise reinstall avast!.

If posible, I suggest you add the text of your last post as a 'tip' into AEC. The user could forget to 'repair' avast installation, miss the registry keys and stay unprotected...
