I like avast, but it seems it is weaker than others.
I think the good combination is a firewall, an antivirus and an on-demand scanner. But if somebody's av is avast, it is sometimes not enough.
I use only the free version of MBAM to scan my system sometimes.
Which as I have said on a number of occasions, you have to go by your own personal experience and not arbitrary test, which in many cases don't reflect real-time user experience.
If it doesn't meet your needs and you are 'disappointed and of course sad,' then you can choose another AV, but constantly complaining about it achieves nothing, take action and switch if you are 'disappointed and of course sad.'
The same is true no matter what AV you choose, it won't give 100% protection so a multi-application approach is wise for all, not just avast.
