Did you reboot afterwards..? If not, do so. Try to connect again.
Solved..? If the answer is no, follow these steps:
1. Run a boot time scan with avast.
2. Run a full scan with Mbam. (Update it first)
3. Report the results.

Yes, it asked me to reboot and I did so before unsuccessfully trying to login.

Okay, the following scans will take a few hours. I have to leave too so... I'll post my results late tonight EST. Thanks!  :)

Okay, returned home to the boot scan completed by avast but could not login to work. I am now going to run a full Mbam scan while I finally get some sleep. Will report back with coffee shortly after awakening and attempting a logon! :)

1. Let us know if your Avast Boot scan came out clean or not.

2. Post your recent MBAM log.

3. If you still cannot connect, check the information on the first post of this thread under Virus/Worms for you to check your machine for malware: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0.  Follow the directions of obtaining the OTL logs.  Post the two (2) OTL log as an attachment (Additional Options > Attach > Browse (the logs will be on your desktop > Post).  We will analyze and if needed refer you to our Certified Malware Removal Expert.  Thank you.

Boot Scan had a virus related to a 5 year old Roxio proggy I used once, I deleted the virus with option 1. Prolly a false positive. I have to send the Extras.txt in a second post. Your forum says the file is too large to send 2 attachments in one post.

I still couldn't login in, here's my Mbam:

Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3
Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18702

Thank you for providing the OTL and MBAM logs.

I am going to refer you to our Certified Malware expert, named Essexboy.  He will also review your logs and give you further instructions, however he comes on the forum late UK time.  He will respond to you in this thread, so remember to check this thread daily, preferably with another machine that does not have problems.  I will continue to provide assistance in the meantime, then remain in the background while he works with you.

IMPORTANT: If you are on a home network, disconnect the affected machine from the network.  Do not share a USB/flash drive with this affected machine.  Do not use this machine unless Essexboy instructs you do to malware removal instructions; use a different machine to check email, sync your phone, etc.

Please do not make any further changes to your machine now that you have provided the logs.

Let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you.

Hi did you set this proxy in Firefox proxy.secureix.com
On completion of this run see if you can connect

Run OTL
  • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

    Quote
    :OTL
    IE - HKU\S-1-5-21-2909255213-1444390413-3995453835-1006\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings: "ProxyServer" = http=127.0.0.1:6711
    O3 - HKU\S-1-5-21-2909255213-1444390413-3995453835-1006\..\Toolbar\ShellBrowser: (no name) - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - No CLSID value found.
    O3 - HKU\S-1-5-21-2909255213-1444390413-3995453835-1006\..\Toolbar\WebBrowser: (no name) - {2318C2B1-4965-11D4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - No CLSID value found.
    O3 - HKU\S-1-5-21-2909255213-1444390413-3995453835-1006\..\Toolbar\WebBrowser: (no name) - {8FF5E180-ABDE-46EB-B09E-D2AAB95CABE3} - No CLSID value found.

    :Files
    ipconfig /flushdns /c

    :Commands
    [purity]
    [resethosts]
    [emptytemp]
    [EMPTYFLASH]
    [CREATERESTOREPOINT]
    [Reboot]

  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done
  • Open OTL again and click the Quick Scan button. Post the log it produces in your next reply.

Hi!

I did use SecureIX years ago. I'm not home now, using iPhone4 to reply. Will do what you say this evening! :)

I used SecureIX to bypass my ISP's throttling of torrents many years ago. I stopped when it purchased those newer Cisco cubes for traffic shaping and everything went to hell. :)
