Eddy: I'm not a prof. (I assume you mean a professional). I'm just a lay user.

Sojourner
I only have one computer and that's the same download that I used. It's been working like a charm. :)

Bob: Are you saying to download and install the "Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers" version?

Yes, we all (pretty much all) did that. Why not ? What's wrong with that version ? Nothing, it's just little (pretty much, again) larger in phisical size... not good for dial-up users though...

:) My download should be finished in an hour, thanks to Eddy!  ;)
Will I get instructions at the end of this download about what to do next? Will I need someone to walk me through it? (like making decisions on different aspects of the finished, installed SP2?  ???)
Since this is said to be practically a new version, will I now have an XP Professional?  8)

Download completed. No problems so far. Thanks for the walk through folks. Took 1 hr 50 mins even with dsl. I did a defrag before restarting online to clean things up. I turned off Windows firewall, I will depend on Zone Alarm. It was nice of Windows to tell me my avast was working properly and up to date.

Oh!
Well, that makes sense! ;)
Now what about all those things that are allowed at Start-Up? Is there some way to know if each one needs to be on that list? I was afraid to say "No" to anything!  :-\

Hi Sojourner,
This is always a pretty good place to start. Be prepared to stay a while.

Bob, have you noticed few changes in Windows booting screen ? Process bar (animated gif) right below Windows logo became blue now. It was green before (green in Home Edition and it was always blue in Professional). Windows version logo is changed as well... there is no "Home Edition" wording any more. Same situation with Professional version... it just states " Windows XP"... no more Home Edition or Professional logo. Of course, inner difference in those two OS'es stays untouched.

Cheers !

BlackViper has not released his settings for SP2 yet. His site says it is coming soon. I hope so!

So far the only change I have noticed is to Yahoo! e-mail addresses. They won't auto complete when composing an email. The approval screen does not pop-up like they say it will. I downloaded the Yahoo SP2 patch and I imagine in time I/they will get it straightened out.

That's a Yahoo issue it has nothing to do with XP2 at least not that I'm aware of.

Sasha I did notice those differences. I know I have the Home edition so the reminder was never needed anyway. ;D

Gooood Morning,  :D
This is a beautiful day --- my computer is still here!
It still works!  :D :D
Microsoft might have screwed up but I don't know where --- the changed color was intended --- they did a fantastic job on this extensive update, ending it with a cleanup!  :D :D :D
Have a great day, Everyone!  :D :D :D :D
