BTS log location on Avast 5?
« on: December 04, 2010, 03:48:57 AM »
Hey everyone,

I've tried searching the web for the answer, and even your forum, but I've had no luck - so could any of you kind forum-goers tell me...

..Where can I find the Boot Time Scan logs for Avast 5? For Avast 4, google says they're in a subfolder labeled 'data' in the program's folder - so I figured it would be no different for A5, but when I opened up my program folder, there wasn't even a 'data' subsection! Is there something seriously wrong with my avast install, or is the log hiding from me somewhere else?

Thanks for reading!,
Sam ;)

Use the search function of your machine.
Search for 'aswBoot.txt' - did you find it..??

Thanks for your reply, Asyn.  :-*

I used the search function on my machine running Windows 7, and couldn't find anything by that name... could Prohibitive firewall settings, or something of that sort prevent the log from being saved?

Will check on my XP machine ASAP to see if it's lacking one after a scan, as well. (Both computers are being awful, lately)

You will need to go to control panel then folder options and show hidden files. then go to C:\ProgramData\Alwil Software\Avast5 or C:\Users\All Users\Alwil Software\Avast5

(Windows 7)

Found both of them on both computers, and everything's, thankfully, clear! Thank you so much for the help, Charyb (and the very handy visual aid).
