This rather depends on who you are addressing as it was jmazz that started the topic and he hasn't come back with anything that appears like it being resolved. But Erebus has jumped on this passing bandwagon

The only way to change the re-registration date if you aren't comfortable with April 1st is to uninstall avast and do a clean re-install. That will allow you to re-register.

- Download the latest version of avast, 5.0.677 http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_free_eng.exe (English only) and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again (if you didn't save your last download). Use that when you reinstall.

- Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear5.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for both 4.8 and 5.0).

• 1. Now uninstall avast! (using add remove programs, if you can't do that start from the next step), reboot.
• 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, first for 4.8 and then for 5.0, once complete reboot into normal mode.
• 3. install the latest version, reboot.

Maybe I'm wrong, but the date listed in the first posting
says 1/4/2011. April Fools day should be 4/1/2011, at least
in Ohio.  Happy Holiday Season to all.

Entirely depends on where you live, those of us not in the US don't have it backwards

The first of April 2011 is the way it is said and the date format the same in Australia where jmazz is.

Thanks David, I realized that few minutes after I posted
that. Being a Ham Radio operator for 43 years and talking
to people all over the world, I know that using GMT is
standard for hams, but we have different ways of saying
things. My apology.
