the renewal should be added to the existing time you have on your current license otherwise there would be no point in renewing early.hope they change there renewal policy.

Surely, if you renew early you get sent by email a new Activation Code which you should keep until the day that the old code expires and then enter it into Avast. As already mentioned an Activation Code only starts on the day it is put into Avast. Or am I wrong?

Are you sure?
Afaik, it starts in the day the license file is generated (not applied).
