If you had waited for the stable then you would not have to reconfigure avast as it would install over the top.This is the peril's of beta testing, if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen

Normal program update's are usually safe to install over the top but with major version changes it can be better to do clean installs.Vlk usually indicate's in the first post of a new version if it is safe to install over the top or if a clean install will be required as he did for the 5.1 to 6 beta update.
