UPDATE: PROBLEM SOLVED...a Firefox add-on "setting"
PLEASE NOTE: I somehow just can't seem to keep my remarks "condensed" at times, so this may end up being another lengthy posting, and if so...I'll apologize here before I begin!
Interesting is there are "2" URLs with the same information on them, but only one of them did not work correctly for me.
This URL caused the status bar (and my other features) to go bonkers: http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-downloadThis URL with the same information but with "en-eu" as part of the URL worked just fine:http://www.avast.com/en-eu/free-antivirus-download
I finally went through my current 15 Firefox add-ons (which I basically have had for at least a couple of years) and disabled them one-by-one, while checking any possible effect to that website.
When I disabled my "RefControl" ("no referrer"), the page worked just fine...VOILA!
You see, I keep the RefControl/No Referrer setting as
"BLOCK - SEND NO REFERRER" to any website. Sometimes this does occasionally block me from "entering" a website...BUT...it has never given me a reaction like I received with this particular web page -- allowing me access to the page but never making the full connection in order for the status bar to show "done"; and therefore, items were jumping/jerking around within the page including my tab, the Avast icon, and my vertical slidebar.
When I enabled my RefControl add-on, again, and changed the setting to allow Avast access to the "referrer", the URL of "
http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download" presented no further problems.

Yet...as I said above, the very same page but with the added "en-eu" in the URL worked just fine with my "no referrer" setting set as "block". I'm not sure why both would not be dealt with in the same manner.
Of note, also, is that I have a RefControl on my SeaMonkey browser, which is why I was getting similar results with SeaMonkey...and since there was no RefControl for my internet explorer, that is why IE was not having a problem (the referrer was not being blocked).

Anyway, there you have it, an add-on was once again the culprit behind someone's problem...or in my case, my chosen add-on "privacy setting" was the culprit!

By the way, thanks to everyone who gave their feedback because that was, indeed, of assistance to me, and thanks to Gargamel360 for reminding me about checking the add-ons!

It was a surprise to discover that my RefControl add-on (which I had been using for a couple of years) was the actual culprit in this particular case...who knew?
