I'm wondering which firewall is fully detected by Security Center. I tried Sygate and Kerio not long ago and they didn't support it.
Thx

When your subject says Firewalls that fully support SP2 and then ask the question which one is detected by Security Center - If the true question is about recoqnition by SP2's Security Center (SC)?

Then like the previous comments in other threads about avast at some point not being recognised by SP2 RC2s SC, this doesn't stop the firewall doing its job, just being recognised and having some nag screen saying you dont have a firewall, etc. By all accounts you can stop this reporting/nagging by the SC. Certainly this is what is comming up in other forums about AVs not being recognised, they are just switching of the nag screen, etc.

Isn't it so that you can manually set the SC that you have a firewall? :D

You can,but its not the same. Also McAfee PF Plus 5(my favorite) doesn't work at all with SP2.

There is a list of applications (and version numbers) that (sofar) are known not to work with SP2. If you ask me SP2 should never have been released in this stadium. Another major mistake by MS. It is not hte first time they release something while the majority of testers tell them to fix the bugs first. :-\

Don't get me wrong. I think SP2 can solve a lot of security issues, but imho MS needs to get their act together and tell the truth. They bring it as SP2 is solving (almost?) any security risk and give people a false feeling of being secured.

Rej-- why not use windows firewall.  Or use the firewall of your choice disable windows firewall and turn off the monitoring in the security center to end the "Warnings"

Personally, I use windows firewall for incoming and a program called PC Security for my outgoing appWall ;)

Many reasons why you shouldn't use it and use a more decent protection. Simply said: The ICF is crap.

hmm,  That seems to be contary to a whole lot of professional reviews on the subject.

Plus, windows firewalls protects from boot up to shut down.  Other software firewalls only work when windows is up and running.  HENCE, the sasser, blaster virus's being able to reak havok.

Plus it uses minimal system resources

I personally have tested mine against grc, norton, and sygates testers it passes everytime.

Well in the end i went back to ICF. Its the best of all. I also consider myself as (very) advanced user so outbound protection isn't required... and is the fastest and less demanding firewall. Inbound protection is 1A class.

Thanks KezzerDrix, I'm sure the links will benefit more than just me. Perhaps those with harware firewall who may be looking for an outbound Application Wall instead of a full blown software firewall.

Welcome to the forum.

Remember, 2 is not always better than 1.
2 firewalls can be just as conflicting as 2 AV programs. Also remember, MS Firewall only protects you from incoming trafic.  Kerio gives you protection both ways.

But on the other hand,Kerio sucks for inbound... trust me it has terrible problems with stealthing ports.
